Definitely his downfall. I'm still amazed that Joe didn't see through him sooner and went along believing that this new sound was right for The Clash after all the work the band had put in with the new songs.

Saw Mk 2 in Manchester Feb 84 and they were great and got a brilliant reaction from the crowd. I was full of hope for the future, and was looking forward to the new album. It was a long wait…… and we know what happened.

Yeah the same after the Brixton miners show. I knew immediately they missed Mick Jones but could see how the new line up could continue and work. The new songs were a work in progress but clearly you could hear the way they were thinking at least. And then Bernie....
