Albums in Different Media/Format
Not counting LPs/CDs - these are some of the albums that I have.
Still looking for one or two in 8 track format.
Show me what you guys have in your collection?

I took a peek on eBay at Clash 8-track. Ye gods, what scarcity does to prices. Imagine paying several hundred dollars to hear a giant ka-thunk in the middle of "Rudie Can't Fail."

Are those mini discs on the right? I do have a mini disc player, but I don't think I ever owned a disc. That format was never really popular here.

Re: Albums in Different Media/Format
Jealous of those mini discs, when I got my MD player I thought it would be fun to pick up some old factory-pressed official releases on the format but they're (mostly) wildly expensive. As Olaf says, the format never really took off so they're not very plentiful (and a lot of Japanese-only releases and the like). I very briefly remember there being a mini disc album section at Best Buy - should have picked up a few albums then, I guess.
I love the format as this weird bridge between analog and digital that was basically destined to never be more than a footnote in history.
I have a red cut the crap cassette I'll snap a photo of when I get the chance. That's probably the most "exotic" clash album I have in a non-cd/LP format.

Well, it has the habit of punning the name of the song you're about to hear. But the built-in remastering is a great feature!Marky Dread wrote: ↑17 Feb 2025, 5:43pmThe best player ever.Flex wrote: ↑17 Feb 2025, 5:28pmJealous of those mini discs, when I got my MD player I thought it would be fun to pick up some old factory-pressed official releases on the format but they're (mostly) wildly expensive. Re: Albums in Different Media/Format
I bought a Betamax copy of Rude Boy right after seeing the movie when it was released in theaters back in the day. On a related note, I met Ray Gange in Toronto (2003?) at the show that the Mescaleros performed in memory of Joe.
Re: Albums in Different Media/Format
Yes they are mini discs. I was all into MD back in the day since it sure beat the cassette for recording shows. A fellow fan/collector Dan McKellar did all his concert recordings in MD. He is the source for many of the Mescaleros shows from Philadelphia/NY that are in circulation between 1999-2002.

Either forgotten or never knew such a show ever happened. Any memories of it you could share, who did vocals etc?
Re: Albums in Different Media/Format
I think my mum backed the wrong horse with her Betamax player! Sounds like a great show to have attended. Deny and I met Ray Gange briefly at the first or second Strummercamp.
Re: Albums in Different Media/Format
I don't recall how I ended up in Canada in the middle of the winter! It may have been someone associated in the Mescaleros camp that invited me to the event. It's been so long. The vocal was performed by the lead singer of the Alarm who I had to google to discover his name. As you can see I wasn't really into any sort of tribute events and most likely that was the reason I never bothered to record or take photos. Althoough I did get to spend some quality time with the band members and Smiley was especially kind to me. I will have to find some more info on exactly when this occurred and the venue in question.Low Down Low wrote: ↑17 Feb 2025, 9:03pm

No worries mate, was just curious really. Sounds like it was just a one off thing anyway and not some post-Joe Meskies tour that I somehow ended up missing.nohs wrote: ↑18 Feb 2025, 1:55pmI don't recall how I ended up in Canada in the middle of the winter!
