Thanks as always Marky, looking forward to this one. I thought you had done this one already, but it was the FM version.

Anyone else think of 1981 not being that long ago and then realising this recording is nearly 40? ! :scared:

Thanks Marky. Thought we already had this but turns out not.

Another one for all you CtC era Clash fans.

This sounds so crisp and clear. Excellent work! I especially loved the band's take on Spanish Bombs. The guitar is significantly different to how Mick played it. And that reworked version of One More Time is one of the highlights of the second line-up as well. North and South sounds great, and that terrific version of Capital Radio came out of nowhere. I didn't realize this line-up ever played it.

Thanks again, Marky!

Next one...

We have the great sounding 16 track radio broadcast of this show. But this remaster of the audience recording sounds brilliant in my opinion. This is almost the complete show. Just missing the start of the encore London's Burning.

Yes! I love the radio broadcast version and cannot wait to hear this one. The band was on fire that night.

When CD-r postal trading was the 'thing' twentyish years ago I amassed a ton of live Clash shows. Whilst it was interesting to catch the band doing their thing live, the quality made me not to want to play too many of them on a regular basis. Eventually I ripped them all to FLAC for posterity and gave the discs away. It's been a long time since I stopped collecting every live show by The Clash, Pistols et al and now prefer to cherry pick shows that I'll actually enjoy listening to regularly.

Step forward two decades and I come here and discover 'The Clash live remasters archive'... and... WOW! I've only listened to a couple of shows so far but what I've heard is a great improvement over what circulated previously.

Thank you Marky Dread for feeding these old shows through your 'Magic Clash Sound System Machine' and for sharing the output here. I'll keep an eye on it for more gems and look forward to some 1979 LC era shows.

Cheers, Gimmix.

Cheers mate. Just working on the Geary Temple (Fillmore) show from February '79. A heavy GEER show.

Great to hear Amsterdam from a different perspective. It's a real shame Joe was half asleep for the first minute of London Calling.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

There are a fair few gigs where that first line proves problematic for Joe to get in the correct order.

People may grumble about why the Clash only ever issued one live compilation, with plenty of pro-recorded/broadcast gigs in the can (eg compared to the Jam who have issued live gigs galore, in various formats, over the years). But take Marky's remasters, call up the relevant pages on BMC for the background info and photos, and digitally at least, we have the best live box set ever.
Big thanks and 21-gun salutes to the passion, devotion and generosity of Marky, Graham and co.
