Re: Metallica covering The Clash
Metallica's continued existence is baffling. They don't need the money, they don't release new music that often, and what they do now isn't very good. Yet they are present tense.

I saw them at Outside Lands a few years back and god damn they were good. I don't have really any interest in their new music, but they are quite great live.Dr. Medulla wrote:Metallica's continued existence is baffling. Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

They are all very competent musicians. Bless their hearts.matedog wrote:I saw them at Outside Lands a few years back and god damn they were good. I knew this was going to be bad, but I wasn't expecting the audience guy singing, that was funny.
Re: Metallica covering The Clash
Do we have a worst Clash covers thread? I'm too lazy to look.

Search for "Fat French pastry chef", that should yield a result if there is one.JennyB wrote:Do we have a worst Clash covers thread? I'm too lazy to look.

Heh. I wonder what Suzanne is up to these days. Or obsessing about.

Re: Metallica covering The Clash
I won't listen to them covering The Clash - why do that to myself? - but I actually thought the single from their new album was decent. Wouldn't inspire me to seek it out, but I don't flip the station when it comes on.

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

That's good to hear. I enjoyed her enthusiasm whenever she discovered a "new" band.matedog wrote:She's still semi-active on fb. Seems like she's well.Dr. Medulla wrote:Heh. I wonder what Suzanne is up to these days. Or obsessing about.
