Happy Birthday Joe

Post by RobotRock04 »

Just a simple thread for us to discuss Joe, reflect on his birthday etc, post memories or whatever you what really, nothing fancy.

I'll be honest - his birthday/anniversary are weird dates for me. I'm 20 and only became a fan in late 2012 when I was 18, and Joe died when I was 8 so I was obviously too young to have any idea who he was. So every-time either those two dates roll around I'm often left thinking "what if". It'd be nice to have some personal memories of concerts etc to reflect on. Oh well, just wasn't meant to be I guess.

Anyway, he's the only man that I can say has truly inspired me, and though I'm a very new fan The Clash have still managed to do a lot for me these past two years or so. I'll definitely be thinking lots about Joe today.

Happy Birthday to a Punk Rock Warlord.

I met Joe once and he was everything your heroes aren't meant to be. Polite, generous with his time, down to earth, and an all-round good bloke.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

I will forever kick myself for missing the opportunity to meet him when I had the chance.

The man gave me a lifetime of inspiration and couldn't have been more friendly the time I got to meet him. His music is inextricably mixed up with everything good in my life.

Isn't that a great legacy? Fuck money, Clapton.

Eh, fuck Clapton, money. But very nicely put sentiment by Appleseed. Same for me, mate.

Hey, plenty of Clapton fans felt the same way up until emancipation.

Joe's birthday is a reminder to all of us to grab life by the throat and start throwing dumptrucks full of feces at each other...an occasion IMCT has risen to with vigour on at least four if not six of Joe's previous birthdays.
