Oh yeah, I did see 'Ghost Dog', the sammuri thing. And yeah, Whitaker's great, as he always is. (how the hell did he get cast playing a British soldier in 'The Crying Game'? That was my introduction to him, and I thought for many years that the man was a Brit. Excellent and versetile actor).

I rented Mystery Train having never seen a Jarmusch film basically because it was the best one Strummer appeared in. While a good, entertaining movie, Strummer was a terrible actor.

*Edit* I have seen Ghost Dog and Broken Flowers.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

I kinda like Joe as an actor or whatever it is he does on film. He was pretty fun(ny) in 'Straight to Hell'.
