Joe’s friends were a bit sensitive after his passing and I don’t think they all trusted Dick Rude to do right by Joe. As was mentioned, Don took particular exception. I don’t think Gerry was thrilled either, despite being featured at the campfire. I can’t remember how Josh felt about it. Everyone thought a bit that Joe should be seen at that point in a shining light.

The campfire is in TFIU.

When Rudy attended the San Fran screening of LRA, he didn’t say anything negative about the Boardwalk scene or the movie in general.

The Boardwalk scene seemed set up/tongue in cheek to me, but the casual fan/viewer might not get that and feel bad for Joe.

Point taken. Rudy just likes that there are movies about The Clash and Joe.

Try as i do I just can't get in to the song. i have the same problem with TIRC.

Ok so same as B.A.D I've never delved into Joe's work post Clash. Found Steetcore by Joe & Mescaleros and really impressed, songs that stood out especially were Coma Girl, Ramshackle Day Parade, Midnight Jam and the version of Redemption Song. As always any recommendations would be appreciated!

Mescaleros stuff is all generally solid and only three pretty approachable albums.

I'm quite fond of Joe's solo stuff and I think it makes for a killer compilation. Give the following tunes a try:
Minstrel Boy (5' minute Blackhawk Down version, NOT 17 minute Global A Go GO version)
Trash City - on Strummer 001 comp
Burning Lights - on Strummer 001 comp
It's a Rockin' World - on Strummer 001 comp
Unknown Immortal, Tennessee Rain, Tropic of No Return - Walker Soundtrack
Baby the Trans - Permanent Record Soundtrack

Global a go go is his post-Clash masterpiece imo, though it is an appreciably different record to Streetcore so might seem a bit out there on first listen. Accept the point about the vocal Minstrel Boy, a stunning achievement, but i still love the utter insanity of the 17 or 18 minute album version.

Thanks all for suggestions, really enjoyed what I've heard so far.

Another standout on Global a Go-Go is Johnny Appleseed.

Bhindi Bhagee is Joe’s best post Clash song.
