Could have been. I was disappointed with the studio recording after hearing the early live versions. For me Bhindi Bhagee is Joe's best solo work. Johnny Appleseed, Yalla Yalla, Tony Adams, Willesden To Cricklewood, Ishen etc..etc..great songs.

It's the perfect song about 'new' London and in particular the North Kensington area.

It's also just about the perfect incapsulation of post-wilderness Joe's global neighborhood worldview.

Billy Hoyl. It's like "okay we get it, you are into different cultures."
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

101 Wolston Manor is lovely this time of year.
The Hoyl Estate is really just a trailer of self loathing.

I could care less about the Strummerbabble lyrics. The song musically has happy feet. You can't not feel good after listening to it...it's impossible. For all I care he's just making baby talk: "Ga-ga goo-goo gee! *Tee-hee*!"

It isn't about Joe, it's about Globalisation.
Forget about it, it's Hoytown.
