It's studio, acoustic. Lots of reverb, very loose.
Thanks bud.

Sounds like it could be the same version as on 'Afro Cuban Be-Bop', one of a few albums I bought through this site many, many years ago.

This is the lone "new" track right? Can anyone pinpoint when it was recorded? The arrangement/rhythm is not unlike the 101ers version, but his voice sounds rougher and older.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

I'm guessing it's Mescaleros era.

Here's the whole song. I wonder if it's pre Clash.

I can't tell with all that reverb it's soaked in. No mention of "sweet Gabriella" in the lyric so who knows. I just played "Full Moon" from 1975 from the 001 box to see if the vocal was similar but I'm none the wiser.

Did the 101ers version have the 14 to 99 lyric?

The version from the Roundhouse does have that line. The version from Camberwell Art School mentions the line "All my best friends got '99".

I think it sounds like an older Joe singing too. The absence of “Sweet Gabriella” could be because of Gaby and Joe going their separate ways. The live Junco Partner from the hellcat compilation omits sweet Gabriella too in favor of what sounds to me like “my sweet Cinderella”? The live version performed by the 101ers goes “I would’ve pawned the woman I was lovin”.

Might be from the same era he did that version on Morning Becomes Eclectic.

I'm sure you're correct mate. Like Wolt I think the vocal sounds later Joe but that reverb is very off putting. Sure The 101ers wouldn't mention Gabby as far too early.

Yes, basically a more focused version of that.

I'm hoping the sleeve notes will be a bit more informative.

I must admit I was stunned by the inclusion of "Full Moon" being from 1975 on the 001 box. The quality and writing was great.

Yes, surprised that he even had access to such a good tape machine.
