quarter pound on ishen
Remember this was available on an official Joe Strummer site? Can anyone upload, or pm me, a good copy. I've only realised I lost this quite a long tome ago. Thanks in advance.

There are a number of versions of Ishen? All live, Sadly I don't think a studio version was ever recorded. All of the versions I have heard from Joe are brilliant I love the song.dave202 wrote:Remember this was available on an official Joe Strummer site? Can anyone upload, or pm me, a good copy. The best version is the one in Japan I think, the same one where he sings Sanpo Suru, is it Ozaki or something like that? Love that whole show.

Is that the one with the intro where Joe says something like 'this is an old Max Romeo tune from back in the day of the punk rasta axis'?Low Down Low wrote:The best version is the one in Japan I think, the same one where he sings Sanpo Suru, is it Ozaki or something like that? Love that whole show.

Could be but I wouldn't swear on it, been a while since I listened to it. I think the version included on the Let's Rock DVD is from Japan too but that's not the one I was referring to.101Walterton wrote:Is that the one with the intro where Joe says something like 'this is an old Max Romeo tune from back in the day of the punk rasta axis'?Low Down Low wrote:The best version is the one in Japan I think, the same one where he sings Sanpo Suru, is it Ozaki or something like that? It was on a widely circulated compilation of Joe rare tracks so I have no idea where / which show it is from?Wolter wrote:That was the version I've listened to the most.101Walterton wrote:Is that the one with the intro where Joe says something like 'this is an old Max Romeo tune from back in the day of the punk rasta axis'?Low Down Low wrote:The best version is the one in Japan I think, the same one where he sings Sanpo Suru, is it Ozaki or something like that? Cheers Marky, I haven't heard that version before I like it. Shame they never recorded it.Marky Dread wrote:

Was it the version from Let's Rock Again (with the intro about the echo machine being very cheap)?
Re: quarter pound on ishen
Thanks laxman. I've heard a few shows from 1999, but not the one here that Ishen is taken from. Great to hear that version again, though.laxman wrote:Actually just found it;

Neither of those are the version I listen to. No idea where it is from but will keep looking.

That is an amazing performance and recording. So much weight and emphasis getting captured there. Magic.
