Jonathan Rhys Meyers?

Post by Low Down Low »

Know next to nothing about this guy, but seems he's getting into character to play Joe in this forthcoming movie:

Funny, I don't recall tramping around the streets of London with no arse in his jeans ever being part of Joe's repertoire

I remember him mainly as the Bowie analogue from the nonsensical-but-visually-interesting-with-a-decent-soundtrack Velvet Goldmine.

He was in Bend It Like Beckham. I assumed the actor was gay, but apparently he's not. I make that mistake with lots of Europeans.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Visually, he looks more the part for Strummer, I'll say that much for him at least.

His "Clash clothing" is pitifully inaccurate.

I'm assuming this was more cheap publicity stunt than a serious attempt to appear authentic for what looks like a relatively low-budget movie. Looking at the extras, it would seem there were no hippies left in London in '77/'78. And there's something about that tele that doesn't quite fit either.

He looks fuck all like Joe. And his clothes/costume are quite frankly laughable his image is closer to a very bad Richard Hell than Joe. Whoever did his wardrobe took the 1977 punk attire and mixed it with Joe's 1980 look.

Looks more like Dave Gahan to me.

I think that's actually pretty good. I mean, all things considered.

It's the part it was born to play!

Compared to what? He look nothing like Joe. No disrespect but they may as well have asked you to play Joe.
