Sorry, but whichever way you look at it, £250 is scandalous for a standard ticket. I can only guess at what kind of people will be attending this jolly-up.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

Well let's just say traffic at the Groucho Club will be a bit slower than usual that night.

Regardless of the Foundation's operations that Rattie addressed earlier, does it matter who goes to something so expensive? The purpose is to raise money, so I don't have an issue with this being more accessible to "the fans."
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

It depends, I guess. Shindigs at that price point seem to cater to a level of wealth that's home to a lot of ethically dubious people. If you're the kind of person who cares where your money is coming from, then seeing a fundraiser like this is probably disheartening.

Like, I know some people who run non-profits that wouldn't take a check from, say, Koch Industries because they believe it'd be morally compromising and ultimately destructive to the mission of their org. And they may be right.

Of course there's the other school of thought, that you seemed to express here, that says it's better to just take whatever you can get and do the most good you can with it. That seems a more practical position, but one that probably entrenches and reinforces structural inequality more than the other position. I have mixed feelings about both schools of thought.

Addendum: In any case, issues Rattie brought up aside, I wish the Foundation the best of luck with the event.

Money before credibility to help those who need it. If it reaches it target only.
