Re: NEW JOE STRUMMER ANTHOLOGY?
Well, Joe's estate doesn't own "U.S. North", studio version (which is B.A.D. with Joe on additional vocals) or demo. They have been granted the rights by Mick, who thinks the demo is substandard for release (for one thing, the "guitar" on it is a keytar), and whose music it is. I suspect Mick also doesn't really jibe with the cassette being part of the bait for the $119 price tag, in terms of the fans. There isn't much music in the Super Deluxe that isn't included in the 2CD with A4 book of Joe's writings -- the cassette and a 7" single. I know Sound System cost more, but it was a ton of music, including some unreleased, and a great package.

Re: NEW JOE STRUMMER ANTHOLOGY?
I think I’m going to get the 2CD or maybe the 2CD and book. I have no interest in the vinyl. The 7" single and cassette songs will probably end up on YouTube anyway.TeddyB Not Logged In wrote: ↑16 Jul 2018, 10:06pmWell, Joe's estate doesn't own "U.S. North", studio version (which is B.A.D. with Joe on additional vocals) or demo. I have one order in for the Super Deluxe and one for the 2CD with book. I’m going to cancel one - probably the box. Hopefully Briggy is right and the 7” ends up on YouTube.

Re: NEW JOE STRUMMER ANTHOLOGY?
I think it's cool that Mick is engaged with this box in any way, really. Very sweet gesture from him, imho.

Re: NEW JOE STRUMMER ANTHOLOGY?
f'ck it, if this is the final tracklisting i'm gonna get the deluxe for the extra tracks with Pete "killbot" Howard
i've been begging for 1983-85 stuff to be released for ever and here it is
please let the mastering be better than pouring rain on TFIU
the dates for the Clash II tracks changes with every press report i've seen so jury is out about who plays on it
2 bullets is from sid & nancy , the scene where sid craves "gimme a fix" on his chest , alex cox refers to it on the commentary

Wasn't Pouring Rain from TFIU the live version? This looks like the Out of Control demo version judging by the track length.Tim Bucknall wrote: ↑19 Jul 2018, 11:38amplease let the mastering be better than pouring rain on TFIU

Re: NEW JOE STRUMMER ANTHOLOGY?
It is a bit weird that there is no credit for Nick and Vince on the July 84 demos, unless it was a rough recording session and they intended them to add their parts later.Tim Bucknall wrote: ↑19 Jul 2018, 11:58amyup TFIU was the live version

Re: NEW JOE STRUMMER ANTHOLOGY?
This is my guess that it's just a rough work up with Joe and Pete. I'm wondering if it is a bit like the version Joe played with the Latino Rockabilly War with the extended drum intro.Heston wrote: ↑19 Jul 2018, 12:13pmIt is a bit weird that there is no credit for Nick and Vince on the July 84 demos, unless it was a rough recording session and they intended them to add their parts later.Tim Bucknall wrote: ↑19 Jul 2018, 11:58amyup TFIU was the live version

While on this subject, I’m glad they allowed SISOSIG to be used on Stranger Things. The show wouldn’t be the same w/o it.TeddyB Not Logged In wrote: ↑15 Jul 2018, 9:55pmThe Clash have always been very protective of their oeuvre.

I figured he was the one Nora had to convince. His song, after all.TeddyB Not Logged In wrote: ↑24 Jul 2018, 5:50pmBR16ADE_R055E wrote: ↑24 Jul 2018, 5:42pmWhile on this subject, I’m glad they allowed SISOSIG to be used on Stranger Things.
