Joe Strummer Subway

Post by 101Walterton »

I never knew (until just now) that the underside of the Marylebone flyover at Edgware Road was now the Joe Strummer Subway :approve:
How long has it been named that?

No idea how long. Years anyway. Or why that particular spot was chosen. Maybe cos it sort of marks the beginning of the Westway?

Yes that would make a lot of sense.

Did some digging out of curiosity and found this sentence: "The subway area itself was actually named Joe Strummer Subway on December 22nd of 2009 which was seven years after his untimely death. This was an area in London that Strummer would frequent."

I could have sworn it was there long before that but the mind plays cruel tricks sometimes...
