The US 2008 Election thread
And let's start it off with the Texas wing of the Republican party. Why do they even pay lip service to the big tent idea?

Well, he's got my vote NOW.

Re: The US 2008 Election thread
Of course, being me, what I want to know is this: Obama mentioned a few months ago that he was going to get a dog for his daughters and I would like to know if he plans on adopting or buying from a breeder (or worse, a pet store). He could be the first president to adopt from a shelter. The guy's a rock star, think of the difference he could make. I don't care what McCain's gonna do because I'm not voting for him. I e-mailed this question to his campaign people, and all I've received in response is a bunch of campaign propaganda spam. Seriously, I know I'm pathetic, but his answer to this will determine if I am going to vote for him or just not vote at all.

For any stat / poll junkies, Nate Silver, a prominent baseball stat guy is tackling the current election at http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/. I ain't smart enough to understand how he's calculating these things, but I trust that he's thorough and methodologically rigourous.

Here's hoping lowest-common-denominator appeal works for the other side as well as it did for W.'s short-bus-o'-victory.
