Maybe all flags are horrible. Except Wales.
Indeed the Welsh flag is pretty badass.

Yeah, nothing like a flag that says, "Fuck you, and here be dragons, bitch."

Disappointing. I bet Cameron is crowing in his lair right now.

And yet, two things. It seems likely that more autonomy will be granted to Scotland in the immediate future, as the UK moves from a unitary system so something more federal, so even if they failed to obtain full independence, they'll have more say locally than before. And the independence movement, from what I gather, was driven mostly by youth. Which means another vote could occur in ten or twenty years. This likely isn't over; it's just the first act.

So, what you're basically saying is that one fly over there is going to fly off the table before that other fly.

Always loved the Mexican flag

The eagle looks a little more cartoonish with this resolution though.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

 Pretty much.

I am assuming that the Tories follow thru on their devolution offer to grant more autonomy to Scotland, and that the independence dream is something that sticks with the under-30s for the course of their collective lifetime. The big question is whether more Scottish autonomy sates the independence appetite or whets it. In Canada, the separatists kind of fucked it up (maybe) by their successful transformation of provincial politics, so much so that to young Quebeckers, the idea of independence doesn't sound all that different from what they have with Quebec in confederation. Hard to pain the federal arrangement as so oppressive when French language and culture is so protected and promoted.

England should vote for independence from the UK, now that would fuck them all up.

I'd rather see parts of England seceding wildly from Britain.

"Secession starts in the home"

I believe the Wolterses have that stitched in needlepoint, lined with doilies, and framed at the front door for when the tax assessor visits their property.
