Re: A Question For Americans
I get 28 days off including bank holidays so 20 days. And all the days I can skillfully blag inbetween.
I have worked at the same place under different employers for 20 years.
Not an American of course but hey I can dream.

Wait...bank holidays are real? I thought they were only a plot device in Blur lyrics.Marky Dread wrote:I get 28 days off including bank holidays so 20 days. And all the days I can skillfully blag inbetween.

8 Bank Hols a year, this year 1 extra for Queen's golden jubilee.Rat Patrol wrote:Wait...bank holidays are real? I thought they were only a plot device in Blur lyrics.Marky Dread wrote:I get 28 days off including bank holidays so 20 days. And all the days I can skillfully blag inbetween.

Bank holiday comes six times a year (Mr. Albarn purposely forgetting Christmas and Boxing days to make his lyrics rhyme)
Days of enjoyment to which everyone cheers
Bank holiday comes with a six pack of beer
Then it's back to work
A-g-a-i-n
Here's to 2013
1 January Tuesday New Year’s Day
29 March Friday Good Friday
1 April Monday Easter Monday
6 May Monday Early May bank holiday
27 May Monday Spring bank holiday
26 August Monday Summer bank holiday
25 December Wednesday Christmas Day
26 December Thursday Boxing Day
Soon we will get a permanent 9th day when the Queen honors Bernie.

i get something like that.... 20-25 vacation days a year (i dont really know the exact number), 5 national holidays, a few floaters.... i never really take them all - certainly not as dedicated blocks of time....Spiff wrote:I get 25 days off per year, for illness or for holidays.
But I've worked for the same organization for many years. A new colleague starting tomorrow would get 18 days off per year.
can't -- work fucking just piles up, or something 'reaaaaaaaaaally' important roles in to disrupt the time off...
but, on the upside.... i work out of the home, come/go as I please... if i need 2hrs to do something, i take it and move along.... no timecards, so that helps....
