Bloodbath in Colorado.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead

I know I should be surprised by the massive stupidity of Americans but...I'm just not.

This country deserves what it's about to get.

My twitter feed was full of sanctimonious entreaties to vote yesterday. Today, it's "This country's full of idiots! I hope it burns down!"

Deeply difficult not to be impressed with Mitch McConnell's governing strategy right now. Total obstructionism 100% worked.

He had the right foil in the White House. Having a guy who is constantly looking to cut the cake in a way that all sides can be happy was required.*

That said, the next couple years should be amusing as the Republican factions can now turn on each other as they try to "govern."

* edit: Which is to say that it made McConnell seem principled to the base and Obama a compromising hack.

How much had the Democrats really offered the youth or anyone at all over the last six years?

Oh, plenty. Health care reform, a growing economy, minimum wage increases, student loan reforms, to name a few.

But then the spineless Dems couldn't find it within themselves to actually tout these accomplishments because they were afraid that by doing so they would turn off the moderate voters they were courting.

And so I also say FUCK YOU to at all the Dems who ran away from President Obama and did nothing to motivate their base, which, as anyone with two brain cells knows IS CRITICAL TO WINNING MID-TERM ELECTIONS!

Unless you believe that the system of government and elections is quite healthy and responsive to the electorate, it's an iffy proposition to chastise voters for their non-participation. There was a recent study* by a couple political scientists who analyzed the impact that the average citizen has on his/her elected officials and found that it is so negligible that calling the US a functioning democracy is a misnomer.

* That just gives you the abstract. PM me if you want the full article.
