Obama's chief virtue over Mittens is that he doesn't have to worry about assuaging the nutjobs on the right—they hate him regardless, so there's no sense protecting that flank. Romney, otoh, would be constantly worrying about being sufficiently pure to the lunatics. Beyond that, meh, more of the same awful that's been going on for decades regardless of who wins.
