Hence my view of history as more cyclical than linear. We like to act out the same dramas over and over, recycling plots and dialogue because the audience keeps coming back.

Altho this time around it won't be Jews but Muslims. Anti-Muslim sentiment seems an easier sell these days.

Not really the point but aren't most of the "colonizers" mentioned really central/north american? I don't think we are inundated with chilean immigrants.

The difference between now and the 1930s—the last big European anti-Semitic heyday—is the existence of Israel, a major player in the international community. Much of what happened to the Jews before occurred because they had no advocate to spur other nations. The US, too, is much different in its policy toward Jews than in the '30s. I'm not as inclined to think anti-Jewish sentiment will grow when there are weaker scapegoats to take the beating.
