My mother was a young woman in the Netherlands during the war. She's not completely irrational about it, but she definitely still harbours resentment and mistrust towards Germans. I cut her some slack even as I tell her she's not being fair to those who weren't even born at the time. Parents …

One of my grandfathers was of polish descent. Funny we never hear about that side of the family much!
