When New Coke bombed, they didn't replace it with old Coke; rather, they added Classic Coke to the product line. And then slowly phased everything back to the way it was once it was safe.

The Italian government has lashed out at an influential Catholic magazine which suggested fascism might be resurfacing within the government.

An editorial in the Famiglia Cristiana weekly is critical of government policy towards the Roma community.

Two cabinet ministers said the tone of the article was "irresponsible".

The Vatican has also distanced itself from the publication with a papal spokesman saying it "does not reflect the views of the Holy See".

In an article due to appear in the magazine next week, editorialist Beppe Del Colle writes: "Let's hope their fears are unfounded that another form of fascism is looming here".
You know things are getting scary when the Vatican calls you fascist.
To be fair the Vatican said it didn't endorse the labeling as fascist.

Fact is, though, this came from the Catholic right.

I was telling all this to a friend of mine--he's in his 60s, so when he went to shul as a child there were survivors there. It immediately reminded him of it and he asked me if they had started going for Jews as well. X(

I agree but don't understand. For example, how could you sit calmly on a beach with a dead kid lying next to you.

I don't usually comment on this stuff, because I'm not politically minded and I'm too ignorant of this stuff to make any sort of statement that I can stand behind. On the other hand, this is fucking terrifying. It seems that France also leans this way in regards to Moroccans and Germany has a serious fascist resurgence as well. Also, China is turning/has turned into an Orwellian police state. I don't know what to say except that there has to be some kind of action taken, and I have no idea what it is. A lot of times I feel like an asshole for not educating myself better on what's happening in the world, but it so hard to find one's way compassless, in the sea of information.
