The Oath Keepers
Fascinating article: http://amconmag.com/article/2010/may/01/00035/
Don't know much about the group, and I'm about to step away from the computer so I'm not writing much up right now, but this seems like a fairly interesting topic. The folks' stated principles seem pretty good to me, but I'm willing to hear counter-arguments from the SPLC side.

Re: The Oath Keepers
So, anyway, if you watch some of the "testimonials" at the Oathkeepers website, a lot of the members come off as "WHERE'S THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE?!?!" types. The organisational leadership sounds pretty level-headed, tho.
Their rhetoric is actually a lot more non-violent than your average keyboard commando tea partier, tho, which is pretty interesting.

I'm in your boat, so I can't really add much to the discussion. Any dyed-in-the-wool liberals want to chime in?Flex wrote:So, anyway, if you watch some of the "testimonials" at the Oathkeepers website, a lot of the members come off as "WHERE'S THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE?!?!" types. I don't really have an opinion one way or the other.
I've studied the phenomenon of neo-provincialism in self-isolating online communities but this place takes the fucking cake.

I thought the Oath Keepers were the teenagers who don't like to fuck.

Re: The Oath Keepers
I was making a pun on the shitty Emo/Indie band The Promise Ring.

Never heard of them, but after looking at a photo, my statement stands.
