The metrics justifying the shift to video are, unsurprisingly, pretty dubious.

Also, fuck Ricketts.

I've certainly never worked on that kind of project. Really highlights how dull fixing and confirming citations really is. :disshame:

This is incredible.
God, that was depressing. And paints how any mass movement could be derailed just by intentionally throwing out these shiny baubles of outrage to let people project their anger in the wrong direction.

That's a fake, though. Look at the dates.

I mean, I have seen lots of stuff go down on Twitter in similar ways to this, but it seems intentionally exaggerated.

Oh no, I know it was fake—an eerie two-months into the future. But however exaggerated it illustrates the contours of how social media crusading rage goes down.

i am absolutely in love with the ezra klein/sam harris feud. it's completely awesome that, after being dismantled by noam chomsky, sam harris has now decided to get savagely dunked on by the most milquetoast liberal i can possibly think of.

Here's sort of the Rosetta stone post (with links to other stuff, I highly recommend reading the e-mail exchange sam harris posted, for example) on it: https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics ... bell-curve

When I see the name Sam Harris, all I can think of is the guy who won Star Search in the 80s.

I've come to somewhat appreciate the existence of Dawkins and Harris, to clearly show that atheism isn't a monolith, and that atheists can demonstrate their religion-free morality by rejecting Dawkins and Harris as contemptible shitheads who make the world awful as much as any Bible-quoting bigot preacher.
