So, do any of y'all think that the whole Cambridge Analytica shitfest will generate enough momentum for another Brexit referendum?
No chance for a referendum on anything for about a decade, in my opinion. The government, whatever they say in public, were startled and rattled when people voted against what they had been told.

That does make some sense from the perspective of Official Power. But if they also don't want to follow thru on Brexit, this scandal provides the political cover to order a new referendum. Again, just speculating, would a new referendum overturn the first one, you figure?

Brexit is such poltical orthodoxy now, whatever the people in power wanted in the first place, they've become a Brexit Delivery System and are dedicated to that and thrown formerly obscure Eurosceptic backbenchers into powerful positions that they won't be able to be easily removed from. I'm also pretty sure that a second referendum would go to Leave in the same kind of percentage.

Huh. So despite the shock and regret from those voters who didn't understand that their Leave vote was more than symbolic, there's fundamental acceptance. And Labour's rising tide doesn't change that either? Weird stuff.

That press officer quote is pure gold in either its mendacity or self-delusion.

Beautiful.
Kim and I laughed so hard at that. I had to post it immediately.
