Basically men are all pussies now because not changing our oil is affecting our grip strength. Or something.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

I love these MRAs crying about how hard it is to be a guy yet in the same breath, talk about how men aren't tough anymore.

The wife is actually working on an op-ed piece about this (to a degree). That is, about whiney white guys who complain about the special status of Indians, women, blacks, etc., when, in fact, what is happening is the special status enjoyed by white men—earned solely by being white and male—is less a guarantee of success. Instead of facing up that they have to compete against more than other white men—the best of the best!—they have to compete against those groups that have been treated as inferiors. What does it mean to compete with so-called inferiors? Doesn't that also make you inferior, a loser like them? That ain't right! The system must be rigged to artificially elevate them, that's the only explanation. Either accept that being white and male isn't as much the slam dunk as it used to be or be bitter and whiney and denying that you're a damned loser because of it.

Increasing maternal mortality rates will teach women to be more responsible and choose life! Social engineering, with an evangelical and libertarian edge.

Girls have to learn how to purge, so probably.

Just saw the hacker who exposed the Steubenville Rape case is up to do more time in prison than the rapists did.

I'm trying to be hopeful that this Trump stuff, which has led many women to share their own sexual abuse/assault stories, will in the long-term demystify the nature of this kind of assault. The secrecy and shame of it all is such an important factor in its perpetuation, so hopefully creating a climate is encouraged that makes men more self-conscious about their behaviour and women more willing to call them out for it. I mean, something useful has to come out of this horrible election you damned Americans have decided to hold.

He's very publicly threatening to sue them all, so I don't know if "hopeful" is the word to ascribe to this particular case. There's slut-shaming in a courtroom, and then there's pre-emptively painting a target on their backs with threat delivered by bullhorn to a legion of his supporters who might take matters into their own hands. The trending may be getting ever-so-slightly better on the stigma...but this sure isn't the reference example for that.

Plus...I already heard some astute analyst on the radio this morning say pretty bluntly that this won't affect the crazies' voter enthusiasm for him one bit, because the most frothing elements of support he's are pretty much A-OK to begin with for everything up to and including coercive/non-gangbang rape. And I can't find many empirical flaws in that theory. He's lost everyone he's ever going to lose over the last two weeks: leaners, undecideds, every white female not in total denial. The whole reason he's kicked up the bullying an alarming couple notches this week against Paul Ryan et al. is because the base he's still standing on is so rock-fucking-stable he's nearly impervious to further electoral damage. He definitely isn't going to go up from here, but there's almost nothing--save for maybe the unspeakable betrayal of that NY Times tape from January finally getting released where he supposedly renounced his own immigration position as a joke to stoke the rubes--that can hurt him any worse with the crazies. Frankly, the fact that his absolute "floor" still doesn't have him losing >30 states...much less having a Mondale-level wipeout...says a whole lotta not-good about how hard it's going to be to get rid of the crazies after he fucks off.

I'm not talking about the specific Trump accusations, but more of a general consciousness raising. As more women talk about their experiences on various mediums, it becomes harder to maintain the fiction that sexual assault in all its forms is rare and that it's the woman's fault. As with most things of this nature, I don't expect anything from Boomers and little from Xers, but hopefully Millennials and especially whatever we call those born in this century can be more self-aware of this form of sexual politics.

Surely, this sober chastening will impart new perspective on these young men's lives...before they become the annointed ruling class that crashes the world economy, of course. :meh:

Uhh, Oklahoma...I think holding it in for 9 months is more likely to cause a terminated pregnancy than prevent it.
