We just started allowing alcohol to be sold in Colorado on Sundays two weeks ago.

You know what's strange? This is the most conservative city where I have ever lived, and we've been able to buy alcohol on Sundays for as long as I can remember. The hard stuff, and in grocery stores, too. I guess the sauce is OK because you need it to protest Planned Parenthood?

Back in '92, Bill Clinton told a joke about him being Baptist and Hillary being Methodist. The difference between Baptists and Methodists is that Methodists will say hi to each other when buying alcohol on Sunday.

When my pops from the VA was visiting me in the CA, I laughed at him when he asked me if he could buy beer at a grocery store. Why wouldn't you? I thought. Of course I soon found out about so called "liquor laws" that are especially stringent in New England. As far as I know in California, the only restrictions are that you can't sell alcohol above 151 proof and you can't sell between 2am and 6am which I found absurd. Combine that with my incredulity over open container laws and I'm a damn near libertarian when it comes to alcohol.

In South Carolina you can buy beer and wine at a grocery store, but only liquor stores sell liquor. And they usually ONLY sell liquor.

Here in Chicago, anything seems to go...

I still am blown away by the notion of buying alcohol in grocery stores in the US (and never lost that awkward feeling of buying rye with my rye bread). You might be able to in Quebec, but as far as I know (correct me if I'm wrong about Ontario), you can only buy alcohol in Liquor Board Stores (at least that's what they're called in Saskatchewan) or off-sale. The former is govt-run.

Jim Adkisson said liberals should be killed because they're ruining the nation, according to an affidavit.
Absolute personal freedom gone awry. Why was no one in the church armed?

There's a law on the books in Maine making it illegal to go to church without your rifle in case of indian attack.

I wonder if the Indians had any laws about what to do when the Europeans invade (outside of giving them food)?

Yeah because the Indians were innocent, non violent people who never hurt anyone. :scared: Indians were just as violent as any group of humans. It make no sense when people call out whites for brutality as if other groups of people are less violent. They aren't. Humans throughout history, regardless of race, have been/are violent.

Steve is right, humans are a viscious lot. We are never far from a pogrom. I read a lot about genocide and have been watching the Radovan Karadzic story closely. He will be hanged for a crime committed by a population. The murderers and rapists will not hang. They are driving buses and working at the local shops, just like they did before the war.

They guy holding the door open at the market for you with a smile could be at your house next spring with a can of gasoline and a rifle. We are never that far from it.
