Which is why, despite all their many, many, many faults, it's irresponsible not to support the Democrats: https://newrepublic.com/post/179247/jac ... -cpac-2024

Democrats should be incorporating this asshole's speech into ads this year.
The supporters of these fucks aren't going to learn anything until they find out what it's really like to live under authoritarianism. They ain't going to get any special treatment.
See the Leopards Eating People's Faces Party joke. But that is the playbook of authoritarianism/totalitarianism—follow us and you'll finally be the winners of life.
I guess I should get in my fun now, I don't think we're going to win this.
I refuse to give into pessimism because (a) I don't think the worst case is preordained (or even probable) and (b) there's no benefit in it.
I wish I could join you in that. I'm not good at it, and I see so much of the world shifting to the far right.

Yet, even in the US it isn't a majority position. As bad and loud as the monsters are, they aren't the dominant view, plus they're not all that competent. I'm not a Pollyanna on all this—I don't foresee a social democratic norm on the horizon—but I don't see inevitability of the worst case.

I do admire that viewpoint, but I also can’t help but recognize that he got into office once already, and it wasn’t the dominant view then, either. And once he or any of his followers finally does get into office, that’s basically going to be it, as the article warns. It’s just so hard to not expect the worst because these fools aren’t going to go away. They’re going to continue to recruit, and we can’t really use the past as any kind of example of what to expect because the internet is such a huge X factor. I’m not trying to be argumentative, but everything just seems so dire. Maybe it’s just the media coverage but I have so little hope.

This is about where I think even Republicans may be ready to get out of this clown car.

Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

I wonder if the wife would be okay with me getting a Boebert onlyfans subscription since she very vaguely resembles her.

The one scenario where you may get in more trouble if you claimed you're only subscribing for her political analysis.

Well, Haley is dropping out. Republicans are okay with a criminal but not okay with a woman?

Is there any doubt? There is no bottom with either Trump or that party.
