I feel that there is a fascistic element, for example, in the Rolling Stones . . .

I agree with the Treasury Secretary. AIG is already buying better-quality coke and hookers for its Bacchic executive retreats thanks to the stimulus package. That HAS to trickle down to the rest of us working schlubs!!!

You're just saying that because you think Japanese women will dork you more readily in a Japanese car.

Mr Paulson added that the Treasury Department and the Federal Reserve would continue to monitor whether bad-debt purchases could "play a useful role" in the future.

Well, for normal businesses, this is what happens. You either sacrifice some of your own consumption to keep the business going while working hard at changing your business model from a failing to a successful one, or you go under due to competition. However, gov't has decided that there is a class of Magical Business Too Big To Fail, so the taxpayer subsidizes these businesses which continue to engage in risky or stupid behavior while the top execs reap huge rewards for being incredibly inept at enterprise. The idea is that the benefits provided by these companies outweigh the costs. The thing is, the more we bail them out, the worse they act. It compounds the bad investments and generally bad business practices since they can get loads of cash just by being fuckups, so where's the incentive to perform well? The real welfare queens are on Wall Street. In the meantime, we keep postponing a market correction so that every time it rears its head it's bigger, uglier, and scarier.
