WTF? I'm no constitutional scholar, but that's not how I interpret it.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Joe Lieberman actually said the same thing as Mike Pence back in the 90s, iirc.

The constitution says whatever our supreme court decides it says, so fun times ahead with that.

No, no, they're principled originalists who don't impose their opinions on the law.

Fucking Milquetoast Joe. Am I the only one who kind of wishes the mob had gotten a hold of Pence? To just wag their collective finger at him that is... :shifty:

If nothing else, it’d make it so much harder for Republicans to try to sweep it away after the fact. If Pence had even just been bloodied, that might have been enough. (Ha ha, yeah, right.)

Texas pastor openly calls on 'Christian nationalists' to 'impose their values on society'. What if it was Pagan group saying their followers should impose their values on society? Wouldn't that be a hoot!

I'd like to impose my values on society. Leave me the fuck alone and don't fuck with other people or I'll get violent with you. Maybe, just maybe be good and try to help others. I've had it with these types. I bought a couple of guns and am ready to start daring them to fuck with me. I urge others to do the same. These people are cruel and they are coming. Get ready now.

Coincidentally, your argument showed up on Politico today (I thought of you reading it): https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/ ... i-00064107

Even if I disagree with your position, I can see a rationale and momentum to it.

I guess I feel that these people are committed to violence. They seem to be drooling for it. I'll be damned if I let these goons bully be around.

And I'm not fully persuaded that they are, in fact, begging for violence. Some, yes, but they're still a very tiny sliver. I think most of these assholes are cosplayers and keyboard warriors getting off on the idea of being tough guys, but at heart they're more like that crybaby Nazi at Charlottesville. They are more invested in being victims and lapping up pity than being heroes to their cause.

I completely agree with the leave me alone and be good and help others, wouldn't that be wonderful if we could all (both sides) just get to that place?

I don't know, they're getting a little brazen with the old Nazism.

Online, definitely. But fascism is an ideology of action—of validation thru violence—and how many of these incels are willing to risk repercussions? That’s where I pause. Most of these assholes are soft wannabes who get their dopamine fix ranting about queers and immigrants. That is, are they political or just therapeutic in orientation?
