"Real America" isn't as large as it sounded on TV. Appears to be more regional.

I preach only to the Remnant.
I feel that there is a fascistic element, for example, in the Rolling Stones . . .

I'm at least partially heartened by the fact that my home region, the South Carolina Low Country seems to be breaking free of the Republican stranglehold.

Or is it just that black turnout was higher this time around? All those "Negro women making baskets," as my dad observed.Wolter wrote:I'm at least partially heartened by the fact that my home region, the South Carolina Low Country seems to be breaking free of the Republican stranglehold.

Re: Appalacia States of God'merica
Yesterday, I looked at my former hometown's online newspaper to see what they had on their front page. Local election results on the top with a bit about the new president closer to the bottom of the page. Then I found something, I don't know, amusing I guess, about how the counties voted (this is SW PA, close to WV). My home county has always been largely democrat; however, in this election that county and the two neighboring counties voted McCain. I'm disappointed but not in the least bit surprised by this.

I've long thought that if the black vote was ever truly mobilized in the South, the republican party would be a distant memory.Dr. Medulla wrote:Or is it just that black turnout was higher this time around? Time to either increase the demand for baskets or cut it completely. Pat Buchanan's gonna have to think on this.Wolter wrote:I've long thought that if the black vote was ever truly mobilized in the South, the republican party would be a distant memory.Dr. Medulla wrote:Or is it just that black turnout was higher this time around? Buchanan's such a strange man. It'd be nice if he could pick a spot and stick with it--he's always either saying things I agree with or saying incredibly insane things.Dr. Medulla wrote:Time to either increase the demand for baskets or cut it completely. I'm never sure if he is a neo-con or not and I always feel like I'm one piece of information away from finally believing he is an anti-semite. He seems to be quite vane. I assume he wouldn't give a damn about Palin if there weren't those rumors that she was a supproter of his in his presedential bids.eumaas wrote:Buchanan's such a strange man. I'm so punk, I don't even take my leather jacket off when it catches fire. Which it does frequently, because of how fucking punk I am.

He's definitely not a neocon—he's an old fashioned isolationist. He's also an old fashioned racist and anti-Semite. I usually read his stuff for a laugh, but he's a crude old bigot whose main value is a willingness to speak against Republican imperialism.Bankrobber wrote:I'm never sure if he is a neo-con or not and I always feel like I'm one piece of information away from finally believing he is an anti-semite.
