I know you don't mean it this way, but it's worth noting that as a member of the ruling class, he has an almost endless supply of do-overs compared to anybody poor or working class. It's like with the Iraq war--if any normal person made a mistake that big, they'd lose their job. But the newspapers are still full of pundits who advocated for it without facing any consequences for their mistakes. Always bugged me how easily society forgives the rich and powerful for their mistakes when those mistakes have far graver consequences. Whereas if you fuck up at retail, you get fired.
The subtext to it all is that a rich person contributes too much to society for the rest of us to "lose" him/her, whereas the poor are disposable, exchangeable, undeserving of consideration because they're more takers and givers. But that's what happens when you grant the free market as the determiner of morality—those better able to work the market to their benefit achieve the status of better, more valuable people.eumaas wrote: ↑11 Jun 2018, 12:57pmI know you don't mean it this way, but it's worth noting that as a member of the ruling class, he has an almost endless supply of do-overs compared to anybody poor or working class. Have to unfortunately agree with Hoy here. All the anti-freckle Photoshop filters in the world can't make that look sexy.
