I think this is as good a time as any to point out that the former Charleston Chew building in Everett, MA has been converted to luxury lofts for upward millennials.

Too bad the supply of upwards millennials is pretty much tapped out.

Lick your lips and get ready for the Necco Building to satisfy your thirst for dog runs and Kcup coffee.
The one in Cambridge is now biolab space. I lived 3 blocks away when it was still an active Necco wafer factory. The air over Mass Ave. smelled of sickly processed sugar 24/7.

Unlike most luxury housing, that actually looks nice.

I assume at some point in history, people actually liked Necco wafers?

They were an important source of tooth decay for the Irish immigrants and a staple of granny candy dishes for generations.
Fuck if I know what the last 25 years of usage was.
Necco had a plant just north of Milwaukee for years. They produced a product called "candy raisins" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candy_Raisins) and when they shut the plant down in 2008 - people were seriously pissed that they could no longer buy the product. It has since been brought back - much to the enjoyment of older folks!
