Re: The Trump observations thread
I remember when some judge out in Arizona sued Manilow for hearing loss he claimed to have suffered at one of Manilow's concerts. Talk about maybe the most weeniest lawsuit ever! Suing because you claim you suffered hearing loss at a Barry Manilow concert!

This has success written all over it.
Re: The Trump observations thread
This pisses me off so much. He and Bibi are doing everything they can to ruin Israel. 90% of us support Israel's right to exist (myself included, and I am going there at the end of July), but an overwhelming majority of us see this for what it is - a ploy to appeal to Trump's evangelical base. What annoys me is the members of my community who don't mind and even welcome the evangelical support for Israel. Number one, it makes us and Israel look bad. Number two, they want us dead just as much as Hamas, just in a different form. Why can't people see this? They have no love for actual Jews.

Because most people's politics are basic power politics. Whatever is good for my side right now is what I want, so the enemy of my enemy is my friend. I've been accused of being cynical—with some merit—but that's true cynicism.JennyB wrote: ↑17 Jun 2019, 11:00amThis pisses me off so much. Well, this is strange—a full-throated racist who nevertheless doesn't know what busing means.

But wait, there's more. He also doesn't know what liberalism means:
(To be fair, a disturbing number of conservatives don't know what liberalism means, so he's running with the pack.)

Re: The Trump observations thread
I would have had more sympathy if he'd sued for what he heard at a Barry Manilow concert, or if he'd tipped the boy for buggering his ears as sweet relief. Imagine if you went to one of his concerts and weren't audibly offended? What would you think? Could it be magic? This is one of things I've been arguing when people raise the "strong" economy as historically benefiting the incumbent. Yes, but every other incumbent has made a point of expanding the potential pool of voters, not narrowing them and the base ever more.

I've only watched about twenty minutes of this, but Mueller looks...bad. I'd even go so far to say he didn't do any of the work during the investigation.
