Re: The Trump observations thread
It took a long time for a fairly mixed Congress to truly get to work on Nixon. I wonder what it'd take for the Republicans to turn against Trump and get to work on impeaching the fucker.

It would take Trump raising corporate taxes.Silent Majority wrote: ↑13 Apr 2018, 8:50amIt took a long time for a fairly mixed Congress to truly get to work on Nixon. I wonder what it'd take for the Republicans to turn against Trump and get to work on impeaching the fucker.

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

Re: The Trump observations thread
I disagree. There's no personal loyalty between Trump and Congress, and they know he'll toss any of them aside if he needs to. If it makes political (i.e., electoral) sense to turn on him, they will. The off-the-record, anonymous comments from GOP members suggests contempt and loathing for the man, so if the base sufficiently erodes, I think they'd shiv him, get the idiot Pence, and spin it as country-over-party.Flex wrote: ↑13 Apr 2018, 8:58amIt would take Trump raising corporate taxes.Silent Majority wrote: ↑13 Apr 2018, 8:50amIt took a long time for a fairly mixed Congress to truly get to work on Nixon. Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Fun facts about Cohen: https://thebaffler.com/latest/who-is-mi ... fruhlinger
My favourite is that his law degree comes from the worst-rated law school in the US. I'd love to learn where in his class of, I assume, dik-diks and monitor lizards, he graduated.

I've mentioned this before but the Forbes list thing reminded me of it again. Back in the 80s, when John Paul II toured the US, Trump met him briefly, then proceeded to put him as a character reference on a loan application.

Someone who does that lacks the capacity to regret.
