Re: The Future of the Democratic Party

Whenever anyone mentions any Clinton and future politics, my brain machine conjures up this:
Oh gawd. This is just going to give all her supporters false hope. What they really need is a good swift kick in the pants to wake up to the truth that she's the reason Baby Huey is in office right now.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑19 Mar 2017, 8:08amDammit, people, you have to separate the head from the body and bury them in different locations or else vampires keep coming back.

I don't dismiss Russian and FBI interference as non-issues like some on the left do, but fundamentally if you lose an election to an out-and-out fascist, you fucked up. Fascists don't win because they have better ideas, they win because those who are suppose to represent the basic principles of democracy, liberal democracy or social democracy, have fucked it up badly enough. Anyone defending Clinton or, worse, sees her as some kind of future redeemer is oblivious to this core truth. Obama owns this problem, too. If you're succeeded by a fascist, you failed. Whatever charm he might possess, his time in office led to a goddamned fascist, so let's stop pining for a guy who was either oblivious or too weak to prevent the conditions that led to this.
Exactly. No one pines for the glory days of the Weimar Republic.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑19 Mar 2017, 9:25amI don't dismiss Russian and FBI interference as non-issues like some on the left do, but fundamentally if you lose an election to an out-and-out fascist, you fucked up. If only Neville Chamberlain were still alive. He'd be a natural leader for Democrats.
It feels like the wokest liberalsphere skipped right over several stages of fanfic straight to deviant porn.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑27 Apr 2017, 4:18pmThis idea of Hillary as the saviour who was rejected is seriously fucking weird, no matter how bad Trump is. In terms of reputation, the best thing that ever happened to her was losing.

Are you talking left or liberal?
I guess probably liberals.
They're still figuring out how to properly triangulate their position so as to alienate the greatest number of people possible.matedog wrote: ↑01 May 2017, 4:17pmI guess probably liberals.
