Perhaps inspired by that young Justin Trudeau video I tempted Jen with yesterday, last night I dreamt that he married into our family and was spending Christmas with us. Nice guy but sharp as a sack of wet mice (credit: Foghorn Leghorn). We stopped playing Trivial Pursuit because it became really uncomfortable to see him struggle.

That's amazing. He really does seem like a dim bulb. Re: Thread of Dreams
He's freely admitted that he isn't a super genius and has no problem delegating to experts, unlike Harper or his father. And unlike Harper and Trudeau Sr, who weren't natural politicians who enjoyed backslapping and all that, Justin is quite comfortable in the social aspect of politics. He's the public face of the government, which is one of the key jobs of a modern national leader (along with setting the tone and broad goals of the government). I didn't vote for the Liberals and can't imagine where I ever would, but Justin is pretty much what I expected. He's comfortable in his limitations and maximizes his skills.JennyB wrote: ↑01 Mar 2018, 10:50amThat's amazing. He really does seem like a dim bulb. Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Re: Thread of Dreams
That limbo bar is pretty low. But in terms of economics up here, the Liberals haven't been that much different than the Conservatives, other than engaging in greater deficit spending for infrastructure. The hostility from conservatives is based on superficial crap—selfies! socks! he's crying!—and cultural stuff. Which demonstrates that, as in the US, the difference between the centre and the right is primarily on cultural matters, not economics. That politics is so fucking polarized about stuff not related to economics is, frankly, baffling. The Right and Centre beat the fuck out of the Left in the past five decades.JennyB wrote: ↑01 Mar 2018, 11:52amHe's a hell of a lot better than the shitstain we have here.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑01 Mar 2018, 11:40amHe's freely admitted that he isn't a super genius and has no problem delegating to experts, unlike Harper or his father. Cultural Nazis, anyway, as they don't seem all that interested in Nazi economic nationalization, as far as I know. I was hanging out with two young guys who were taking the piss out of me good naturedly. One of them kept rapping the chorus of a song with a 1990s hip hop feel that went
We are living in eternity.

You're never gonna make it in

Probably slept about two hours last night. My insomnia has gotten pretty bad. I was using some (non-habit-forming) sleep aids but I am trying to wean myself off of them.
