Been doing my usual Xmas tradition of going through the holiday episodes of QI. I sure do love panel shows. It's a shame Americans aren't aware of the concept of wit and so something like this could never exist here.
It's good stuff.

Just watched the original 1966 version of Dr. Seuss "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" with Boris Karlof.

I've been doing a binge-ish rewatch of Veep—the first time since the series concluded—and monstrous absurdity that American politics has become in the interim has made it much funnier, I think.

Fair. Gallows humour funnier, certainly.

Also: "Gary Walsh is a 12-year-old boy trapped in the body of a 12-year-old girl." Savagely funny writing.

A comment: Anyone who pitches or develops a "gritty" tv series set in a police department or hospital deserves to have an existential crisis with intense waves of sobbing and self-loathing. (But, no, wait, this one is set in New York!)

The Interview With the Vampire TV series is my favourite of the year so far. Sumptuous, really gay, lots of vampires, well-written.
