I'm in the first season with Woody at the moment, he's better than I remember (and I'd forgotten what a non-factor Coach had become in the show by his final days). The point I really remember the show starting to go downhill is when Kirstie Alley shows up.Dr. Medulla wrote:Excepting a few select episodes, I really don't care much for Cheers after Coach died. Re: Currently watching.
I caught an episode where Diane hectored Sam into proposing to her, and then going to the police and falsely accused him of assaulting her. Then, in front of a world-weary judge, got him to propose again or else he'd go to prison. And he did, and it was romantic. I'm not too sure of Cheers chronology, but that was definitely an episode from a show in decline.Dr. Medulla wrote:Excepting a few select episodes, I really don't care much for Cheers after Coach died. Re: Currently watching.
That's the most common narrative for the show's decline, and it definitely sped along downhill, but for me there was a certain heart and soul to the show about Coach. Sweet and confused, getting some of the best lines because of the same. They tried to do the same with Woody, but it wasn't as effective.Flex wrote:I'm in the first season with Woody at the moment, he's better than I remember (and I'd forgotten what a non-factor Coach had become in the show by his final days). Coach was the best. I actually liked Woody but I agree with Flex. Kirstie Alley ruined it for me.Dr. Medulla wrote:That's the most common narrative for the show's decline, and it definitely sped along downhill, but for me there was a certain heart and soul to the show about Coach. Hey, I'm watching those too! Love Ripper Street, not fully sold on The Following. It's gory and creepy, but is also chock-full of cliche. But who am I to judge because I am also watching The Carrie Diaries, but just for the music, clothes and Freema Agyman.Marky Dread wrote:Ripper St.

I'm watching Downton Abbey. Daily Show if I can stay awake. Getting tired of waiting for Mad Men.
