Whoa whoa whoa. I'm in the North Shore, not the West Suburbs... Those people are Christian freaks. We're mostly agnostic Jews.

At what point does a remix lose every single shred of it's original song?

I swear to god, 95% of remixes from the last half of the 90s—the ones that showed up on CD2 of a single—contained not a fart of the original. On the one hand, it was like getting a completely new song. On the other, it was inevitably an unlistenable sludge with dance beats.

Tangentially related to all the discussion, these are two remixes that popped into my head as "superior to the original":

The one remix from that collection I really love is Go Home Productions messing about with "To Hell With Poverty." Adds extra snarl and funk to an already great song.

My thing about St. Vincent is that since her real name is Annie Clark, I hope that leads people to check out post punk goddess Anne Clark. But I doubt that has happened.

Tho I find her albums hit and miss, she is undeniably a shit-hot guitarist.

I find I like St Vincent more in theory than practice. But it's not an aesthetic judgment so much as preference.

Her name irritates me, but I have no strong opinions otherwise.
