Thanks for the Ipod, Steve

Post by darter »

Well, I'm not usually one to pine over the death of strangers but Jobs' ipod really got me back into music. After decent radio ended, the Ipod was the only way to hear what I wanted and I was just getting into the Clash and all those bootlegs. I had read few books about Jobs and saw the Pirates movie and they were pretty much saying the same thing: he was consumed with himself. I had been reading a few bios of Hitler and it was easy to draw parallels in their lives at least in the realm of upbringing, dumb luck, artistic aspirations, megalomania, cultism and petty genius. Uh, I guess this isn't quite the eulogy I had intended but anyway - thanks for all the cool stuff.

On a sadder note, a story about his biological father:

I can think of three "Pirates" movies, of which this is easily my favorite:

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

Pex Lives!

Nice. Then there's that one with Geena Davis that nobody saw.

I'd have to be doing a long stretch in prison before I'd watch this.

Cutthroat Island. It had Matthew Modine and the trailer had Beethoven's 9th.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Angela Lansbury wearing a uniform = HOT

(Not Bea Arthur hot, of course. Nothing is, really.)

I think, that movie took place in France as I recall.
