That's so stressful. I'm glad that it turned out for the best, though. Family can be the most anxiety inducing thing in the world.
I told B that me amidst my family can be captured by a line on King of the Hill, when Hank, Bill, and Boomhauer stole Dale's riding mower and then played on his conspiratorial nature: "We're putting extra stress on a structure that wasn't up to code in the first place."

Hey, everyone.

I'm recently unemployed ... canned from my job 2.5 weeks ago.

Where should I go to celebrate my new freedom?

D'you know that you can use it?

I don't have much experience harvesting pineapples.

Shit, I'm so sorry to hear this. A friend also got his pink slip a couple weeks ago and is "enjoying" his freedom. Do you think finding a new job will take awhile?

Thanks for your support.

Given the highly specialized nature of my job skills, the answer is yes, it will probably take awhile to find a new job.

Good luck and god bless. I have been there and back. My suggestion would be to go to Grumpy's Bar and get drinkin'.

Grumpy's is cool, but not exactly Nordeest, as the swarthy ethnics pronounce it. :shifty:

Yeah that certainly sucks, so sorry to hear this. I forgot what you were doing but I do recall it wasn't the sort of job you see listed too often.

Hang in there and try and enjoy the rest of the summer.

Sorry, Spiff. Especially considering the passion you had for that organization. Keeping fingers crossed that you will find something you love soon.

Seconded. I got to hang with Spiff a number of times due to his work related travels, so I'm also bummed for selfish reasons.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.
