Did you see Funny Games?

I'm just curious about it --- probably can't watch it, cuz I'm a sissy, but read about it in Esquire a while ago, and (as with all hacker/torture-porn film) I always have to ask about them... Find out what happens in them. :P

Oh God...... Speaking of 'sissy' --- I just read about a certain online video in same Esquire magazine, and walked into my roommate's bedroom, made her read the paragraph, said, "I'm going to tell someone to watch it and then tell me what it is."

So of course, she watched it.

And I peeked.

And I'm a little nauseous now. :P BlehhhhhhhhhhKKKK.

I've seen it, it's not gory at all. Most of the violence is off-camera. It's a strange little film, I couldn't decide whether I'd enjoyed it or not.

Haven't seen the Hollywood remake, but the original (Austrian I think?) film with Ulrich Mühe (from "Lives of Others") is creepy yet, very well done. Not really violent but psychologically thrilling.

The article I read about it said it was a precursor to --- and more effective a torture-porn film than --- things like Hostel, Saw, etc.... Do you agree?

I don't know why I'm asking --- I'll probably never see it. ;) Chiiiicken....

[A confession: the 2nd post of mine in here was about 2 Girls, 1 Cup. YEEGADS. :scared: X( X( :twitch: I peeked at the video just a couple of times, for literally a split second each time, and upside-down (my roommate's laptop), and it STILL made me nauseous. Damn this curiosity of mine!!]

I wouldn't be the best person to ask. Hostel, Saw...etc. aren't really my type of film. This one though was interesting 'cause it took things a little differently. I guess it was more about the audience, and why people watch these type of films than anything else. As in "why is torture and senseless violence entertainment". There's a good review of it on IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119167/

The Hollywood version, will probably change the premise and make it into just another horror flick though.

Actually, that's one thing this article did talk about --- how it wasn't bastardized by Hollywood, and how it was almost as if it were the same film, but with more well-known stars pasted in...

Good to know. Although seeing that movie once was more than enough. Too chicken to see any other version again!

I saw the Devil's Rain a few nights ago. I can't say it was good, but I can say the Ernest Borgnine turned into a goat.

That actually seems sufficient for my enjoyment.

Is Ernest Borgnine dead yet? He must be 112 years old.

1917, and according to IMBD, has 3 acting credits THIS YEAR!

Gotta stick him in my Death Pool list again, he sounds way too active for a man of 91.
