Just saw an ad for a new movie about Chappaquiddick and immediately thought of the semi-famous National Lampoon ad:

Hate to tell you this: I could see a late-night talk show dork like Jimmy Fallon telling that joke.

66 Days. Documentary on Bobby Sands hunger strike, H blocks etc. Watched this on Netflix it was well put together and brought those times back. All politics aside although obviously unavoidable such a sad affair from a humanitarian point of view.

For absolutely no sensible reason, it's one of my enduring childhood memories. In my family, during the morning CBC Radio would always be on, both news and current events magazine shows. And I remember, day after day, the updates and discussions. I had no understanding about the politics of it all, but I was confused and sad about this young guy choosing to kill himself that way.

The Boss has discovered St. Elmo's Fire on the tee-vee. I end up catching bits of this shitshow every seven or eight years, enough time for me to forget how boring it is and how inane the characters are. It's absolutely perfect for making a cinematic case that Gen Xers are repulsive fuckfaces.

Ill have to look it up.

Like Doc mentioned this was ever present in the news when I was a kid. I was delivering newspapers at that time so it was all very front and center for me.

They don't come in shit stained flannelette so have no authenticity. I won't be buying those. I'll save up for for the luxury La Santé Prison pyjamas as worn by Carlos the Jackal.
