Annihilation is a great horror movie.
I feel that there is a fascistic element, for example, in the Rolling Stones . . .

Saturday night I did a double header of Trainspotting and T2 Trainspotting.
Both great films and go back to back seemlessly despite the 20 year gap.
Music is great too.

Featuring material from 1950s and 1960s driving safety films and interviews with some of the people who put them together, meaning that they went with police to the accidents with cameras to film the carnage. Great example of the kind of social engineering that was employed in that era, always emphasizing the absolute horror if you fuck up, whether it's driving, asking a girl on a date, or paying attention in class.

Tep, a friend of ours has her first full leant horror film out. I think it’s up your ally.

Teen punks, on the run from the cops and hiding out in the woods, come up against the local authority - an unhinged park ranger with an axe to grind.

Starring the star of The Transfiguration, which I thought was one of my 2 or 3 favorite movies of the year. Let me know when this is available to view.

Veronica — much-buzzed Netflix movie about a ouija ritual gone wrong. Great first 2/3rds, gets kind of campy (in a not-good way) towards the end. It's 30 minutes too long, but still fun. 7/10

I had a dream the other night that I was watching that movie The VVitch but it was from the point of view of the witches. Pretty cool.

Just saw Annihilation, couldn't get into it at all. 😩

Thought it was OK, trying slightly too hard to be cerebral.

Veronica (2017) Set in the early 90’s, 3 teenage girls in a Catholic school play with a Ouija board during a solar eclipse and release a malevolant spirit that attaches itself to the title character. Since their mother is working or sleeping most of every day, Veronica must protect her three younger siblings from danger. Not the most original plot you’ll see, but interesting and effective. Spanish with subs. From the director of [REC], and it’s [REC]omended!

Psycho Cop Returns aka Psycho Cop 2 (1993) As worthless as the first Psycho Cop was, they still decided to make a sequel and good thing they did. An after hours bachelor party in a DTLA high rise turns into a massacre when the satanic serial killer cop returns. A few pretty girls stay in the office to work late, and three strippers join the fun too, including Julie Strain. Loaded with nudity. Look for a nod to Rodney King at the end.

The Centerfold Girls (1974) Andrew Prine is a morality killer who is slashing the throats of the lovely ladies in his porno mag, one by one. Told in three separate stories, each LOADED with nudity and murder, this is one of the sleaziest American titles I’ve seen. You’d almost think it's Italian! At least eight different girls take their tops off. Besides Prine, the only recognizable faces are Francine York and Aldo Ray. Not the most cerebral flick you’ll ever see, but I enjoyed the heck out of it.

The House on Straw Hill aka Expose aka Trauma (1974) Udo Kier is a novelist who hires a secretary (Hammer Honey Linda Hayden) to take dictation in his secluded mansion. She masturbates a lot, and kills country rapists with their own shotgun! When Udo’s girlfriend (nude model Fiona Richmond) comes to stay, she steals her too! More than enough nudity from start to finish, and plant of blood and murder, enough to land this one on the original Video Nasty list. Good stuff!

It Stains the Sand Red (2016) While the zombie apocalypse is in full swing, a coked-up Vegas stripper with car trouble walks miles and miles through the desert with a single zombie on her tail. I liked the main character, and I found the movie entertaining all the way through. From the director of Grave Encounters.

Scared to Death (1980) A Syngenor (Synthetic Genetic Organism) escapes a lab, lives in the sewer and cuts up pretty girls in Los Angeles, while an ex-detective-turned-novelist tracks him down. Some good nudity in the opening scene and an interesting looking creature design, but overall I’d advise to skip this dull effort.

Microwave Massacre (1983) Another one that I remember from the video store but never took home. It was a bad as I expected, but surprisingly watchable, and equally surprising, many of the jokes worked. A middle aged construction worker is fed up with his wife’s disgusting cooking. One night he comes home drunk and kills her. He eats her little by little to dispose of the body, acquires a taste for it, and murders and eats several other women. Feeds ‘em to his friends too. Some pretty good nudity in this one too, three or four girls.

Julie Darling (1983) Teenage Julie is not interested in boys her age, only her daddy (Anthony Franciosa of Tenebre), so when her mom is murdered by a would-be rapist in front of her very eyes, she sees it as a great opportunity to get some alone time. Imagine Julie’s disappointment when dad brings his side piece (Sybil Danning) and her young son to move in before mom had time to get cold. Julie plots to get rid of them, but does she have what it takes to kill? Find out for yourself, this was good fuckin’ movie! Nudity? Well I said it had Sybil Danning, didn’t I? This sleazy (un)pleasant surprise is available on Amazon Prime, hiding under its stupid alternate title, “Daughter of Death”.

The Lure (2017) A family of performers in a 70’s style nightclub find two teenage mermaid sisters, Silver and Golden, and add them to the act as singer/strippers. They have normal teenage urges, like cigarettes and boys, but they do normal mermaid things too, like communicate telepathically and eat people. Now this was a musical, and there were way too many disco/pop tunes for my taste, but I’m not going to hold that against the movie, since I knew that going in. There were tits in nearly every scene in the movie. I’m a fan of the killer mermaid genre (though there could be more) so I wanted to check this out, and it was good enough for a one time watch. It’s been a good year for fish-fuck flicks, Troy McClure would have been pleased. In polish with subs.

Tep, I went to see The Ranger tonight at its second showing. It was a lot of fun. It was like the sushi punks from Repo Man went into the woods to hide after crimes and ran into a demented park ranger intent on driving them crazy and killing them. Good fun. We then went to a karaoke bar with the director/writer and her fella and drank cheap beer. More good fun.

The Ritual — loved this. Fantastic and creepy. 10/10

Selfie From Hell — I mean, it's called "Selfie From Hell." 4/10

Insidious: The Last Key — I get the Insidious franchise mixed up with The Conjuring franchise because they both were James Wan/Patrick Wilson horror things. Insidious has been garbage since the second movie, the main woman's two acting modes are "slight concern" and "matronly" and everything sucks and GOD I CAN'T STAND IT. 0/10

Curvature — Time travel stuff, confusing and incomprehensible plot. Terrible acting. 1/10

The Ghost Footage — Found footage YouTube movie about a guy vlogging his haunted house/spook that follows him. I though it was pretty great. 7/10
