I'm about to be on the way to getting my certification/license/bike as well.
Looking at probably getting a 70's CB550 or 750.

Cool.
I ride a 1993 CB750.
By then, it was called a Nighthawk. I don't think Honda had a name for these bikes in the '70s other than CB550 or CB750.

Got a bike. Gonna have it at my place next weekend probably.
My buddy had a yard sale and sold me his '72 Honda CB350. It needs some TLC, but it has run in the past year. I got plenty of friends who can help out. Looks like a new battery, oil change, and carb clean. Not to mention a good scrub-down.
He bought a couple 350's to train actors on for a movie he was working on. Didn't want to teach them on the $10K+ classic choppers they got for the film.

I've just reserved a Yamaha FZ6R for five days in late December, from a motorcycle rental place on the big island of Hawaii:

Needless to say, I'm well-chuffed about this recent development.

BTW, I was in the Balkans in June and July of this year and was able to sneak in a five-day motorcycle trip through Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Albania.
Five days, four countries, 1,100 miles ... and here's a 13-minute recap:
First two-thirds are photos, last one-third is helmet cam video of some of the cool roads I took ... and sometimes shared with large farm animals.
WARNING: Contains New Order music

Nice. I've always wanted to go to that corner of the world.

After I bought a new fuel-injected Yamaha in 2013, I swore I'd never again buy a motorcycle with carbs.
But this beauty was too good-looking to pass up.

So, could you jump across Snake River Canyon with that?
