I miss visiting my Aunt/Uncle/Cousin in Florida during the summer and the sky turning pitch black at 4pm everyday to unload a vicious t-storm.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Aye. That's one thing I genuinely miss about NC summers—the regular evening thunderstorms. I love thunderstorms and, believe it or not, there wasn't a single one in Saskatoon last summer and none thus far in Ottawa.

It's 91, feels like 97, here. Just calculated what the Heat Index would be with a standard Charleston dew point: 109.

Thank Atheismo the relative humidity here is only 52%.

5 TV stations in Boston now an-hour-and-a-half into a group TORNADGASM! gangbang over...Doppler radar hook echoes. Some subdivisions in the outer burbs are underneath some real purdy magenta onscreen. And spotter reports of..."ominous stillness."

Banky thinks we're all pussies here.

I remember a hurricane watch on the Outer Banks (I think it's capitalized) while we lived in NC. We lived well inland, in the Piedmont, but every news station sent people to report on the impending (pleasepleaseplease) armageddon. And when the hurricane failed to show—I think it turned back to sea—the disappointment was visible on anchors' and reporters' faces.

There was also the time when, during a minor ice storm, a reporter replied breathlessly from the Interstate, "The salt's not activating! The salt's not activating!" Mass hilarity in our apartment that evening.

Best moment...the reporter on his day off calling into the station from his home near the storm. He saw a black cloud, and opened up some of the windows in his house "to equalize the pressure in case it hits."

Weatherman: "Sorry to break it to you, Greg, but that's an old wives' tale."
