I think you are a Garth Brooks Appreciator, so here you are. Garth continues to be a maximally decent human being in today's cultural cesspool:

It speaks to an unfortunate bias or prejudice in me that I'm regularly surprised when country musicians express values of respect and decency. Not proud of that, just admitting it.

I don't think it would be surprising if it turned out that listeners/fans of mainstream, charting contemporary country were, broadly, more conservative than the median American (where the "median American" is hardly a bomb-throwing leftist). Purely anecdotal/personal experience, but the more you get into country (which is an extremely broad category) that isn't Contemporary Country, the more ideologically diverse the fanbases get. And, well, if nothing else musicians tend to know who butters their bread. What's notable about Garth is how for so long he's been the ultimate Contemporary Country Star and how he absolutely is willing to be outspoken on these issues. Mad props to him, even if one of the only songs of his I actually like is that KISS cover.

Addendum: The absurd boycott of the Dixie Chicks in the early aughts definitely shaped my view of country music fans. Took me quite a while to get over that and explore what is actually an extremely diverse genre of music.

Your addendum speaks to the source of my prejudice—I too easily tar the artists with the same brush as their fans, who, well, too often exhibit the ugliest qualities. And, certainly, I know (my head, that is, not my gut) that getting out of contemporary country means far greater diversity, in artist and fan.

I really didn't need to see Michael Anthony's chest pubes on a Monday morning.

Turning it into a luxury is all the more satisfying, isn't it?!

Hello,

That would pretty much go for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as well.
