Hoho.

If you like Phil Sandifer and Jack Graham, but have been craving something more brain-damaged and incoherent, check out my new Doctor Who blog:

To date, I haven't covered anything Doctor Who at all!

Well damn it, I wish I had time to read this at any point in the next few weeks, but my brain is swamped with trying to goddamn animate a 16 second scene.eumaas wrote:Let's see if it survives the coming semester!Flex wrote:Love having you back and blogging, Geneeumaas wrote:If you like Phil Sandifer and Jack Graham, but have been craving something more brain-damaged and incoherent, check out my new Doctor Who blog:

Dr. Who and the Daleks (1965) I’ve never seen anything Who-related, so what a better place to start than the one with Peter Cushing, I figure. Well, it was sort of a comedy, and pretty dated. The doctor time travels himself and a couple granddaughters to a distant future where a centuries long war between The Daleks and the Thals. The evil Daleks are some sort of small (unseen) creatures who roll around in protective robot coverings that look like trash cans with Xmas ornaments and laughable monotone mechanized voices, while the peace loving Thals look like a bunch of Peter Pans on their way to a Bowie concert. I’m told I shouldn’t judge the Dr. Who phenomenon on this movie, so I won’t, but I doubt it’s something I could get in to. Peter Cushing was surprisingly forgettable, as in I watched it yesterday and I’m already forgetting it.

Yeah, pretty much. Kim (my fiancée) and I just had our good friend John Howie Jr. (of Two Dollar Pistols fame!) over to watch an Amicus anthology film (Dr. Terror's House of Horrors) and his review of the Amicus Dr. Who films was quite dismal.tepista wrote:Page 108, time for me to join the conversation

Speaking of Amicus, though, James: I'd love to be on the new podcast discussing Dr. Terror's or The House That Dripped Blood whenever that pops up in the queue of films. Might be able to get Kim and even John involved too if you want a guesty kinda show.

Seriously. You should see his old punk photos from the 80s though--damn.Wolter wrote:What a burnsman!eumaas wrote: John Howie Jr. (of Two Dollar Pistols fame!).
Reminds me a bit of you, actually--going punk and then finding a way back to the country sound of the south.

Re: Dr. Who/Torchwood
Sure. We recorded our Dr Terror's last month, but Holly's the editor for this one and she's got the procrastination of the unemployed. We've also recorded a Dr Who and the Daleks with Phil Sandifer, and a the Skull (minus me) with Jack Graham. So it's a nice slate now that we've left these interminable fucking teen musicals at last. I must ask Kevin when he's around for Invasion Earth, we really want him on that episode. If he's reading this, maybe he could do the next Sunday?eumaas wrote:Yeah, pretty much. Re: Dr. Who/Torchwood
Agree with Tep's review above, by the way. I'd love to have seen Cushing play the Doctor with a little bit of how he played Frankenstein.
Re: Dr. Who/Torchwood
Speaking as a casual Dr Who fan I find the best Dr Who episodes have no Daleks in them.tepista wrote:Page 108, time for me to join the conversation

Any thoughts on the new season opener from last night? I enjoyed it, although I didn't think it was among the best openers from Moffat's tenure. Very interesting to see how it plays out next week.
