Awful song. Jerusalem has good lyrics, even if the tune they play it to is a dirge. The French have the best anthem, if you ask me.

I was at a ball game here when the Ottawa team played one from Japan, and the Japanese anthem carried a lot of emotional heft to it.

I've read Sandbrook's history of the US in the 70s. It's fun narrative history, but not especially complex. Which isn't a bad thing, only that it's not going to challenge anyone.
